  1. Interview with Greig Watts, DWB Music

120227-DWBI caught up today with Greig Watts, my co-writer on “One Of The Days” and the “W” in the “DWB Music” songwriting, production and publishing group.  Greig told me about his latest hit with Korean superstar BoA, offered some great insights on writing and producing for the “Idol” market, and advice for songwriters trying to break in the business…

Take 3 cutesy Japanese schoolgirls aged 12-14, a bouncy J-Pop tune, dress up in short loli-goth outfits, and apply a coat of the heaviest metal sound…

It’s called “BABYMETAL”, it’s the latest oddity from Japan, and yes it’s as wrong as it sounds…

... but also strangely compelling at the same time.

The 3 girls are Nakamoto Suzuka (中元すず香), Kikuchi Moa (菊地最愛), and Mizuno Yui (水野由結) and are the pseudo-rebellious offshoot of otherwise clean-cut idol group Sakura Gakuin (さくら学院) (“Cherry Blossom Academy” in English).

Welcome to the mosh pit of Chaos...

  3. SuperCool-Guy ♡ SUPER☆GiRLS

When SuperCool-Guy found out about Japanese idol group “SUPER☆GiRLS” he had to make a blog entry!

SUPER☆GiRLS (pronounced “supa galzu”) is releasing their second album and new single called “EveryBody JUMP!!” on February 1, 2012 (yay!) – there’s a teaser of the upcoming video: it’s basically a bunch of super-cute Japanese girls jumping up and down – what’s not to like!?

(ahem… at this point I should probably mention that their age ranges from 22 to … ahem… 14!!!)

    Anyway… moving along…
