Music, Lyrics & Arrangement

The chorus music/musical hook came to me on 8 November 2025 with a lyric that sounded something like “need you” but no real lyrical direction.
It originally came to me in the key of C# but I quickly tuned it down to the key of C, as it was evident it would be a guitar-based song that would be a lot easier to play in C.
I had finalised the musical composition, song structure and basic instrumentation within a day or two.
The song then just sat there for a few months until I decided to whip up some lyrics in June 2026.
This was obviously going to be a fun, uplifting pop-rock song, and I set out to write flirty lyrics that would play well in a club or a bar. They are by no means a paragon of originality (!) but they are somewhat coherent, sing well, and serve their purpose, which to support the musical drive of the song.

Production

I played and sang all the parts, mixed and mastered the track in my home studio.
As I’m useless on guitar, all the parts except the drums were played on the keyboard. I had a lot of fun coming up with a solo and little pieces of ear candy sprinkled throughout and I’m quite pleased with how realistic it all sounds.
The backup vocals – by now, a SuperCool-Guy trademark – are central in lifting up the song, and the ad-libs reached a couple of high notes I didn’t know I had in me!
I set out to build a fun, energetic pop-rock song reminiscent of Bryan Adams, etc. Did I succeed?
